The HeartScreen
The HeartScreen is Australia's first national cardiometabolic prevention and diagnostic screening initiative. We bring specialist led early detection of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease and metabolic syndrome directly to GP clinics, aged care facilities, workplaces and communities. We pay for the specialists, sonographers and equipment so Australians don't have to.

John Perkins has contributed to shorebird conservation around Durras Lake through nest monitoring and photography. The South Coast Shorebird Recovery Program records his work at North Durras and includes photographs documenting local birds. He was among volunteers recognised through Coastcare Local Hero awards in 2007. Watching a nest may appear a quiet occupation, but repeated observations help establish whether eggs hatch and chicks survive. His local contribution brings careful attention to a coastline shared by beach visitors and vulnerable breeding birds.
